This gun belonged to my father and he taught me how to shoot with it 40+ years ago. He passed away a year ago. Does anyone know if someone makes custom grips for one? The plastic needs to go. It is not an expensive gun other than the memories.

I really enjoy the old Hi Standards. Coming from your dad, just makes it priceless. You are a lucky man to have something you can dance with and remember your dad.

Those were just decent, accurate, dependable revolvers that worked well. Countless people learned to shoot with those.

That is what we shot at that coon 59 times with and missed every shot.

I’d bet Zane would be willing to make a set for you if you send him the plastic to use as a rough base, and then you do final fitting and finish.

My first handgun was a HS Sentinel. Bought it summer of 1968 when I was 15. Working at a White's Auto in Alexander City, Alabama. Mama filled out the paperwork. when I paid it off, she picked it up and gave it to me. Burned up a lot of 22LR with that little gun.

Rabbits, squirrels, opossums, coons and a duck on the pond (got in trouble for that one and it was a long long time ago). Good times and good memories

I suggest you leave it as is. Perhaps cherished memories are best left unmodified.

My first handgun was a Colt woodsman. It was in sad condition.

The HS sentinel is a superb example of just plain fun to shoot 22. She's not the prettiest girl on the block, but she functions well and doesn't let you down.
I have several of the semi-auto Hi Standards that are beautiful and lights-out accurate. Quite different than their sixgun.
And now we have added the old Woodsman of which I am a huge fan. Colts' pre-woodsman with pencil barrels and all the way up to their Match Target with Elephant Ears are just hard to beat.
When it comes to older vintage 22's, Hi Standard and Colt are worthy additions for any shooter or collector.

There's a pair of HS Sentinel plastic grips on ebay. Listed as a High Standard grip on page 26 at the bottom of the page. $10.00 under pistol grips.
