Designed in the early 70's by Paris Theodore. Another guy as interesting as Charley Kelsey. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Theodoreabout 250-300 produced in 1982 and 1983. The catalog indicates there was 286 steps to transform a SW 39-2 or 439 to an ASP. I have owned this one twice. It is unusual because of all the ASP extras it has. It is well used and has been refinished as all ASP's were finished in a black teflon. The guttersnipe sight is pretty neat. I have an extra I bought on auction and may try to make my own ASP someday. Like the Devel, S&W's decision to market factory cmpact models killed the market. detailed pics. Its on GB now but I ran it on a 2 week auction to give me time to take some measurements so I can try to duplicate. www.randgfirearms.com/photogallery/main.php?g2_itemId=11068
