This is a real gem! It comes from Sports Afield in the early 1950s and is the only one I know of where he actually praises the King Short Action.

It's a rare bird for sure. I've seen exactly one copy in 30 years. It's from the Sports Afield Hunting Annual from 1941

Are you sure about the 1941 dating? He talks about 25 years earlier with him and Harold Croft coming up with good ideas on single actions. That would make it 1916 and he was still a teenager then. Croft and he worked together around 1927-1929 which when we had 25 years puts it in the early 1950s.

Good point, but it gives the issue and date at the top of the 3rd and 4th page. Here's the issue it appeared in. Maybe a typo in the article.
