As some of you know, and others may have guessed, I am fond of smooth antler stocks paired up with grip adapters. Up until now, they have been elk of one type or another. Hear is a nice set on the S&W Model 1917 I set up as a carry piece. Here is a similar set on a heavily modified S&W Model 25-2, Recently, I saw a set of stocks made from reindeer antler. They looked good in the image but the look and feel even better in person! Here they are on that same S&W Model 1917, the first N frame I grabbed when they arrived. They will not stay on the Model 1917 and I am not sure where they will end up. Perhaps the Model 1950 Army or maybe one of the 1917 Commercial revolvers. They were built by Ken Driskill. He does these for fun and not by commission. When he feels like it, he turns out one or several pairs and offers them for sale. First one who says “mine!”, gets them. He does not accept orders or commissions so it is strictly luck of the draw if you get them. The workmanship is top notch. I will be looking for more. Kevin

Thank you.
I enjoy shooting my revolvers and have found this combination to be most comfortable.

KEVIN: I HAVE A BUNCH OF KEN DRISKILL's ELK STAG GRIPS, HIS WORK IS EXCEPTIONAL AND, IMHO, THE BEST ELK STAGS GRIPS. MOST HAVE VARYING DEGREES OF BARK BUT ARE GENERALLY SMOOTH. FOR A WHILE NOW I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND HIS GRIPS ON EBAY NOR GB. - 45MAN

He posts them on either the S&W forum or the Colt forum, names his price, and they get snapped up! Kevin

I have several pairs of Ken Driskall's grips and could not say enough good about them. I have a pair on my S&W Registered magnum, a Flat-top 44 Special Ruger, and on an early Colt Trooper 357 Magnum. I did buy at least one of them on Gunbroker but have often seen him offer them on S&W Forum too. What I think really sets his grips apart, in addition to his great workmanship, is that he told me he goes out of his way to find the heaviest pieces of Elk antler, I think some use more of the antler, probably because it's more a business to them and they still work and look great, I think his are the best I have seen made with Elk Antler & would like to get some from him in Reindeer to see what the difference is like. Mine are mostly smooth, especially the pair on the S&W, and are my version of "affordable " faux ivory

45MAN, that's a point, I could almost see it as semantics, but it's probably a valid point, I just never thought of it in that way, I also like animal products, I like real wood floors, not the laminates so many favor nowadays, that sort of thing. My two BFR's both wear Micarta, one I bought new with it, the other one I had sent back for a new grip frame & 45 cylinder and did not know at the time that they had a wood laminate option so they are the black, I at least like them better than the rubber grips they came with.
