There's a High Standard 357 in a pawn shop near me. It's barrel looks like an early Dan Wesson shroud barrel. Anyone ever seen one of these?
The price is low for a switch barrel Dan Wesson, but maybe more than I want to pay for High Standard brand. It only has a 4" barrel with it. Thoughts on the value for one that's a real shooter's grade?

I had one of those back in '73, 4 inch barrel, non-adjusable sights, but was very accurate*

This one has adjustable sights. I might have to get it if it's still there when I get by again.
Still wondering if it's worth $450.

IIRC some of those HS/DA revolvers had a ratchet like action. Don't know about durability?

Interesting guns in the DW history and kind of a chicken or the egg thing on who made it. I've heard it both ways. History aside what you are asking is value. They seem to run behind same generation Dan Wesson marked guns. Plus they are the older "pork chop" barrels which are less attractive to most people and harder to find if you want to multi barrel it. I would think $450 would have to be a very nice gun and depreciate for any cosmetics. Check function closely as they can twist a crane easily if "cowboyed ". Easy to work on but parts not common.

Thanks. I'll probably take a pass since he's not willing to come down any on it.

I also had a TDE Automag, in 357AMP, with which I took 12 whitetail deer, over a 4 year period, and it was marked with High Standard markings* Not to change the subject, but there it is!
