J.D. O'Meara was semi-famous, back in the day. Elmer mentions him more than once in SIXGUNS, IIRC.

A couple years ago at a St Louis area gun show I purchased a Colt SAA exactly as pictured in the O'Meara add. Best of all, it lettered as having a gold bead front sight. And it has an interesting O'Meara two piece flat mainspring.

A couple years ago at a St Louis area gun show I purchased a Colt SAA exactly as pictured in the O'Meara add. Best of all, it lettered as having a gold bead front sight. And it has an interesting O'Meara two piece flat mainspring. Could you please explain the 2 piece main spring or provide a picture? I'm having a hard time visualizing it.
