CDNN blew out a bunch of those sights on eBay for $17 a couple weeks ago, they may still have some if you poke around.

Priced higher than I want to pay, but a pretty cool piece.

That little piece of metal in the cylinder gap always struck me as a cheap afterthought. It may be effective at its job but it just screams cheesy to me, there is no reason aesthetics cannot be kept and still accomplish the job, except $$$$$ Trapr Only partially effective. This from 329, blast shield eroded into two pieces and top strap under eroded shield . . . Would love to have that 325 nightguard - doubt the above would occur with 45 acps. . Paul

Been there done that and never again... Had a 357 PD 4" and 357 NG 2.5" and neither were even pleasant to shoot with .41 Special level loads.
Friend had the two 325 PDs, 4" and 2.5" and with standard .45 ACP loads were ok to shoot but not real pleasant with +P loads.
Whoever came up with the idea of the blast shield probably got a bonus from S&W but has cost them THOUSANDS in shipping fees as that is covered under their lifetime warranty...shoot the gun without it and it can damage the topstrap in short order...

Anyone ever hear of getting a replacement blast shield without having to send the entire weapon back to the mother ship? Might be handy to have a spare.
