These guns are a surprise and a bargain. Great shooters. My Taurus 66 with my 19-5. These were built when S&W and Taurus were both under the Bangor Punta bonnet. With all the stories of shared technology what got lost in translation is that the internal workings of the guns were vastly different. The technology sharing was mainly between the manufacturing processes. The Plant in Brazil was more modern and S&W was able to upgrade the way they did some processes. They did want the guns to look alike and they got pretty close. Fit and finish on these guns was nice.

I either forgot, or never knew, that the same money bags ran both companies for a time. The Taurus definitely does mimic the S&W in looks, thanks for sharing.

"Bangor Punta" always sounded like the title to a Porno film from south of the border. Maybe I'm weird ,,,,,, or live too close to the border!

A lot of people thought that it was an Indian company. lol Yes by name it totally sounds Indian ! Like Bangalore. But then again the south of border unsavory moving picture struck me as well……… I’m guessing the firm that owned them tho were more to the tune of Bangor Maine.
