I picked up a s&w 25-5 a few weeks back. It's an excellent revolver. It has the oversized throats common to these but with relatively soft bullets I'm finding that I can shoot one hole groups close up around 10 yards and about 3" at 35-40. Really unheard of accuracy from my experience of oversized throats in Rugers. My oversized Blackhawk cylinders might as well be thrown in scrap bin.
I'm wondering what you like for grips, that are available in the market. I know Blumagnums are no longer available. My friend has a set of pachmyer bill Jordan signature plastic grips and they are good but I can't do plastic. Any other contoured options? For N frames. Thanks for responding.

I put Eagle Grips copy of the the Classic Cokes on my 625 Power Port. I like ‘em.

When I was doing bowling pin shoots with my 25-5, I had a Hogue Monogrip on it. Was the plain nylon model, (I think.) Beat up the web of my hand a bit...but I also won a few matches. Normally, I just let the recoil take the gun where it's going to go...but I had a rather FIRM grip on the gun for shooting pins.

Whether you want magna grips or target grips Culina can’t be beat for the quality at a reasonable price.
Call Jennifer/John and see what they have available.
They’re nice folks and if you’re not in a hurry will make you what you want.
You actually never said what you were looking for….. Heck, I may have a pair to sell….

Thank you for the responses. I have limited experience with double action shooting. I just know the factory stocks are too blocky for me. Thank you for images Mr. Taffin. The Rowan walnut look amazing.

I’ve got a set of Walnut burl and a set of English walnut that are both about 95 percent finished. I don’t have pics handy but if you’d want to see them I posted them on Facebook last year and can tag you in the posts.

Sounds like a great gun... Have never owned a 25 in .45 Colt but have had quite a few in .45 ACP and the early ones can be very problematic accuracy wise. As to grips, everyone is different. My favorite for DA shooting N-frame Smiths is the Herrett's Detective. They are shaped much like the Jordan Trooper but have an open backstrap. They don't move at all in my hand when shooting DA. Bob

I have two sets of custom finger grooved grips for square butt N-frame that are in excellent condition, but just didn't work for me. I'm not at home and can't remember the makers, but they are quality work. I was buying them to see what worked for me and although they felt excellent in my hand, I didn't shoot them well. I settled on the magna style made buy LSCG. I shot those better. I'm traditionally a single action kinda guy, but ventured over to double actions a few years ago - I'm get'n 'em figured out.
If you want to try them out, shoot me a PM with your address and contact info and I'll get them headed your direction. If you like them (or one) we'll discuss business, if not, you can just send them back and at least you'll know what may or may not work.
