They respond well to simple polishing & spring swap. Radius the trigger face some. I think Hogue still offers grips. Seem to recall some differences in grip frames between earlier & later models. Can't remember the specifics though.

Can't remember the specifics though. I looked at Hogue grips. They list for 150- or above. So there must be some difference. I planned To get a wolf spring set. I one in a SP101 I had years ago. Worked good. Thanks for the info.

They are good solid guns truly enjoyed by most who one one or more.
Different action designs, as well as different access to the internals make them feel differently than a S&W.
As noted above,, they can easily have their action smoothed up & be a very good feeling action afterwards.
YES,, there are differences in the early frames vs the later frames. PAY ATTENTION THE SERIAL NUMBER PREFIX WHEN LOOKING TO BUY GRIPS. The Ruger collecting term for the grip frames is "Low Back" or "High Back."
Replacing the front sight with a gold bead will be a custom job.

Contender nailed it ! Post 151 series are high back and many grip makes for them. Low back--good luck. Great shooters with some smoothing out and they carry well and shoot full house 357s with authority and accuracy. 158grain bullets tend to be the weight they like best. Stock makers are Herrett's, Badger, Hogue and try Altamont but not sure.

NOT A SPEED SIX, BUT I HAVE A 2.75" SS SECURITY SIX. I COULD NEVER GET IT TO SHOOT GOOD WITH 158gr AND LIGHTER BULLETS BUT IT REALLY LIKES 180's.

I polished up the hammer and trigger. Just waiting for the spring kit to arrive. It’s already much nicer and slicker.

I have accumulated a couple of Speed Sixes, the snubby and the 4”. Sweet, slick sixguns.

I enjoy the two Security Sixes I have. To me, they have much better balance and feel better in my hand than the GP100. I also like the aesthetics of the SS over the GP. The GP just seems too big and bulky compared to the ss.
I have a nice GP with polished pins, trigger, and hammer. I just can't seem to bond with it.

I really wish they had put a full-length ejector on the GP, and maybe with some type of finished end for your hand. The Speed Six was maybe the first pistol I ever really admired and I will have to try to pick up a snubby one of these days.
