Bought this all steel Rock Island Armory 1911 in .22 magnum today. Magazines holds 14 rounds, should be great fun as a plinker.

A few years back, I bought a Rock Island Armory Officer's Model-style 1911 in 45 ACP, almost purely to see just how bad a $400 could be.
It turned out to be one of the nicest 1911s I'd ever owned. I didn't do any work on that one at all - didn't even need to do a detail cleaning when I bought it, but I had to tear it down to realize that. Not sure if they still make them like that, but I'd recommend them based on my one experience.
That a neat and interesting piece - 22 Mag. That could be a very useful handgun even beyond just fun.

Hahaha, that pretty cool. Especially in 22 mag! Only down side is ammo cost.

Man, that's cool. And in my favorite rifle cartridge. I do love 1911s, but i think i can resist...maybe.

VERY nice looking... Have looked at the target sighted version of that gun...please let us know how it shoots... Bob It shoots real well. At the indoor range at 50 feet offhand, 10 shot groups were in the neighborhood of 3 inches (guesstimated, not measured) Groups were all well centered and not one issue with feeding. Gun is a lot of fun, just a little on the heavy side. Trigger is OUTSTANDING, at least on mine.

But you need to find some grips with a little squirrel skull on them instead.
