On recent GB auctions there were two different boxed S&W m-657 no-dash 4" barrel .41 mag`s that sold for $2400 and $2445... What makes them worth that much?? Limited production??

Folks are nuts....
I honestly people are buying guns that never have much before and they just don't know any better. They do a Gunbroker search for recent sales and they see prices like that and figure "well, that's what it's worth". And in all realit, it is because two people just thought so... Sad for us folks who shoulda', woulda', coulda'when things were more realistic price-wise.
Good on us who did.

Bought these two a couple of years ago. $800 for the 4" nickel, $900 for the 6" blued. Both in really superb condition. Can't understand the premium price for stainless. Shop around.

Fine gun's for sure , but I would buy 2 good gun's for that much money, lets see a 657 smith or a new python, and a used Blackhawk.41. Or maybe and OM flat top in .357 and another in 44mag !, ..on the other hands .41 redhawks are not cheap either, (I might be getting one this week)...

Doesn't help that fewer revolvers are being made currently and worse the 41's are fewer still.

LARGE FRAME REVOLVERS SEEM TO HAVE BECOME A SIDELINE FOR RUGER AND SMITH, TOO BAD.

Not a S&W, but about 3 years ago I got a LNIB 4 5/8 Blackhawk 41 mag for $475 at a store that hardly has anything and is usually 30% higher than “reasonable” shops. It was a great deal then, and in todays market incredible. Went in there this weekend, they had another one but 45 Colt, same condition LNIB. $1300!!!!!! Here in Calif it’s much easier for both shops and individuals to get whatever they ask. We have so few guns allowed on the roster plus many online auctions etc won’t ship here. They really have us by the short hairs.

S&W has one model available...6" blue... Ruger has the 4 5/8" & 6.5" Blackhawk and a 4.2" Redhawk FA has the 97 and 83 in lots of barrel length.. ...that's about it for handguns...
Those 4" 657s were made for only one year... The 3" was a stocking dealer special and 5500 were made. I think there were more of the 3" guns made than the 4" but the 3" has always brought more money.
Going price for a 3" without the original Combat grips is right around $1800-1900... Friend was at a BIG local shop recently and picked one up for $750...reason...we can't get ammo for it...and this shop sells on GunBroker...why they didn't put it on GB is beyond me...

What would make one think it is just guns? - $20 burgers at a restaurant
- $8/dozen eggs at the grocery store
- $240 to fill my pickup truck
