After switching scopes on my XP100, 221 FB I think my "Rock Chuck" load will give them something to worry about. At first I just had a 4X Leupold on top but that's just not enough scope when you get out around 100 yds or more because they blend into the lava rocks so well you just can't see them many times. Today I switched to a 2.5X8 Leupold & went to the range in between rain storms & got dialed in with my standard load for the Fireball. I think this load is going to be a real problem for them out to 200 yds or a bit beyond with the 40 gr Vmax bullets. Haven't run it over the clock yet but they are moving pretty fast I'm sure. Dick

Rey, the 40 gr bullets get there quicker & are more destructive once they get there. Sometimes it's better to use a heavier bullet because of the wind but with the 221 or 223 we seem to have a little bit of an edge with bullets that go faster in pistol barrels.

Sixshot, what sort of velocity are you getting with those 40gr Vmax in that pistol?

I know in a 10” barrel FA 224-32 with that little 40 grain V max, and 4227, is only about 2100FPS. That’s with 11.2 grains of powder. At 16.+ that thing has got to unzip the hide on those little critters

I haven't shot this gun over the Chrony yet, I have shot the same load through a 10" TC barrel, I'll have to look tomorrow & see. Plus I might get time to radar this one.

Looks good. My Montana in .223 shoots a group like that with the 40 vmax factory Fiocchi ammo. I tried some Nosler ammo with the 40 BT which a lot of guys say would be a better bullet for hide saving, but it was a no go in the Montana. I may get a set of dies and see if I can make that bullet shoot better sometime, but it's tough to get motivated when the 50 round boxes of Fiocchi 40 vmax shoot as good as I could ever hope to make another load match.
