Spent the last couple of days chasing pigs with son #3, Tony. He used a Ruger 250 AI loaded with the Barnes 100 gr TSX at 3100 fps. I had to join in and used a 275 gr WFN at 1200 fps in an OM SBH. A great trip and a soon to be freezer load of sausage and a couple of smoked hams.

Dang those are some serious cutters on that pig. You have to love it, the man has a safe full of great custom revolvers and he takes a 40 year old Ruger 44mag! I guess the classics never go out of style!

I guess the classics never go out of style! You nailed it. I looked at many of the toys and thought the SBH should get the nod. I kicked around using the Keith load too but found a very old box of CPBC 275 WFN's that I had never tried. They grouped very well at 50 yards behind H4227 so off they went hunting. The OMSBH is "original" hunting revolver IMO and will never be a bad choice. I just received my Colorado elk tag in the mail after 5 years of trying so I will ponder the same for that hunt soon. Yes those teeth are pretty healthy. The snout of mine is currently spending time in a fire ant pile in the back of the property being cleaned for a tooth pulling. The little guy is having his skull boiled, bleeched, bugged or what ever they do to allow a skull mount.

How did you get a Colorado elk tag already? Applications are due April 6th. I have to decide what I am going to do this fall to break through this handgun elk jinx I have right now...
Does that old SBH have ivories on it? It looks classic as hell, especially with a dead pig.

Excellent Story and Pics!!! Good Looking Pigs and Nice bullet launching platforms!!! Are those Micarta, Holly, TruIvory or REAL Ivory on that SBH? No matter what, they look perfect on that revolver!!! Congrats to you both!!! Stump
