My avatar gun is the little 41 Special Andy Horvath built for me several years ago after I first read about the L'il Guns thanks to JT. When I had Andy build it I decided that Turnbull coloring would be a nice upgrade. Over the years I have found my taste in firearms simplifying looks wise so I recently sent it back and had Andy remove the colors and reblue the gun a nice dark blue. While the gun was back in Ohio I ordered one of Ronnies brass birdshead grip frames for and old model Ruger then ordered the snakewood so Zane could fit snakewood grips to the brass birdshead. If you notice the avatar, it wore a brass birdshead grip frame with ivories at one time. A good friend of mine who is now gone home, Hank Helo, loved that look so I let him have that set of grips and grip frame for one of his old model single six before he died. I have an extra set of ivories in the safe so I think I will see if I can fit those to the birdshead frame along with teh snakewood and the set of sheep horn I have fit to it so I truly an just change the little 41's shoes every once in awhile!.

You have some really classy revolvers, Robb. I always enjoy seeing them and especially appreciate the accompanying stories. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice. My fav of them so far is the snakewood and brass grip frame. That's snappy!

Gotta agree with the Snakewood crowd, something about that combination sets the gun off!!

I found an Interesting thing about the brass birdshead gripframe yesterday. This was the first old model brass birdshead Ronnie made for a non bisley main frame. As usual due to his fantastic machining, it bolted right up and was easy to fit to my "mule" main frame I use for rough fitting new grip frames but when installed on the gun, the trigger slot is not quite long enough to let the trigger move forward and engage the half cock notch on the hammer. It pulls back to full cock and the hammer drops like it should when the trigger is pulled but no half cock notch engagement. I sent an email to Ronnie and asked if he wanted me to just take a file to lengthen the slot or if he wanted to get it back to he could fine tune his manufacturing specs before I started whittling on the brass. I thought I was losing my mind in that when I reinstalled the polished frame Andy fit to the gun, everything cycled perfectly. After careful observation of both pieces side by side I could see the difference in trigger opening length and once I saw that it didn't take much to figure out what was happening. It should be an easy fix but knowing how meticulous Ronnie is on his parts I know he may well want to have it in hand to take measurements.

As a follow up on the half cock situation. I talked with Ronnie and he was already aware of this being the case on certain guns. He has already made a design change to address it and he was fine with me simply lengthening the trigger slot a touch with a file.

I've always wanted to have Andy Horvath do me a little Ruger. I could DRIVE to his place and drop it off, which is what a friend did. When he got it back,it was beautiful in very aspect and SIMPLE, tasteful and shot just like a pistol should shoot. His was a 44 Special conversion, but still, it was one from Andy Horvath. That's a pretty little sixgun, kings6 !
