Nice set. Those old Hawes are a love 'em or hate 'em when it come to looks. Regardless of their lines, they were good shooters and very well constructed. -Lee www.singleactions.com

OH Lordy.........I do believe this is the first time I have ever seen someone refer to their "Ruger New Vaquero" in print. Will wonders never cease? ? ;D ;D ;D ;D Finally, a man who gets it. This must be a day when good things will happen. I never thought I'd see this day. Being a grip maker I don't recall ever having someone tell me they were looking for grips for a "Ruger New Vaquero". It usually results with me having to ask further questions to find out what the gun actually is. I knew there had to be at least one person out there who actually looked at what it said on the side of his gun.

Gotta admit, thought they were ALL new, as in two pins, versus three screws. Vaquero's that is. Hmmnnn... thats why I'm here, to learn. steve b

Ah, but the Vaquero was simply a Blackhawk with a Colt SAA topstrap and front sight style. The New Vaquero is downsized a bit, to be more like the SAA. It also has a taller hammer spur and a lockwork that has the "reverse indexing pawl" feature that creates a "click" which aligns the cylinders chamber with the loading recess in the cylinder frame. Both designs contain Ruger's transfer bar system, of course. The New Vaquero also has a XR-3 sized grip frame which also emulates Colt's SAA size. Here's a Vaquero and a New Vaquero in a comparison shot.... Carl
