Okay guys.... We all look for FA blades... I am looking for the pin in patridge style blade for a stainless Super Blackhawk.... Any of you guys making anything?

Clements blade looks good Bill.... Just about what I have in mind. Did you specify the height or perhaps just cartridge and barrel length? Will Dave sell just the blade?
Didn't see anything at Midway that fits my needs.... Gun comes with a ramp.... My old eyes need and I like black patridge. May ask JG about installing a weigand FS base when he fits the Bisley grip frames... These FAs and Ken O'Neill's blades have spoiled me silly...

Axe I am the same way with my sights, the best is a undercut or a square black front blade but they are sure hard on a holster. I think the best compromise is a 10 degree cant to the front sight, dead black and square. One of my FA front blades should be easy enough to swap out for a Ruger front. Just cut the front of the lower dovetail shaped square and pin in, I am going to do that to my 4 5/8" Bisley home job gun one of these days...

May ask JG about installing a weigand FS base when he fits the Bisley grip frames... The Weigand bases are functional, but a bit bulky looking for me on a Ruger. I have underspent before, and have ended up thinking"that wasn't worth $50" For a premade pattern front, Stroh is tough to beat, but most smiths have a similar style. However I am putting a couple Weigand Bases on my BeeFeR's. I think their frames have enough bulk to visually offset the Weigand base. Once I came to terms with the fact I was spending money for completely subjective reasons anyway, it became easier to "justify" embellishments. I know I don't show much right now, but in the next year I should have some pretties to show to you folk. I budgeted 20K for customizing revolvers I already own this year. Should be a fun 2010. |

I stopped by local Welding/Fabrication shop. Asked for a 3 inch long piece of 1/8" cold rolled steel. I removed the steel that didn't look like a sight blade....   No, it ain't no packin' pistol! Carl |

I'll second Dave's blades. If you don't know the height you need just tell him the specifics on the load you are shooting and the barrel length and he will size one up. I buy mine a bit taller than factory and trim them if needed. I also prefer them cut .100" thick rather than the typical .125" to get a bit more light around the sight.  He makes them for FA guns too.  |

Yes, Dave will sell you a sight blade by it's self. I told him the height I needed and He made it and sent it to me. Blade with two bars was $65.

I make mine out of aluminum and bead blast the back edge to reduce glare. Gives nice contrast against a black notch.  -Lee www.singleactions.com |

And ... Exactly how tall is your blade? What are you shooting and what range? Axe, Not sure who/what you are questioning but the blade on my 45 Accusport measures .440" tall and is currently zero'd at 50 yards with a 325 gr LFN and 22.5 grs of H110 which goes 1140 fps. The rear sight sits low in the frame as I prefer. |
