I spotted a pig rooting in the neighbors pasture ads we sat in the back porch enjoying a beautiful afternoon. My pop handed me his m77 280 Remington and I took a rest. The near 200 yards was no problem for his old gun and the young boar never took a step.
My wife road with me on the buggy to drag him back. I keep a 41 magnum bisley at mom and pops to Cary while riding around on the side by side, so I grabbed it and she and I drove around to tie on to him and drag him back. ( I can’t lift or bend to well and mainly stumble around a lot). When we get close and see another one that could have been his twin step out of the other neighbors woods into the clean cut pasture (). I stepped out of the atv with the 41 magnum and sat on the ground with my back against a tire and rested on my knees. She was a long poke at 50-60 yards so I waited and she began to walk straight towards me with 5 or 6 10lb’ers in tow. At 25 yards she stops and turns to her right just enough. The 210 grain xtp hit right near the ear hole and she too never took a step. But those little pig puppies got to stepping! Man it broke loose! When they regained their composure they all ran back to momma and stoped. Another xtp , this time through both shoulders. Another eruption of pork flurry and I found another little guy carrying the mail straight away from me. I took the Texas heart shot but at over 50 yards I missed him. We followed up to make sure and found no sign. So I am happy with my 3 pigs and I will be cooking pulled pork for Sunday dinner! If the Big Bad Wolf had invested in good Ruger steel, the story would have ended much differently

I left the boar where he fell. I was hoping to draw in a coyote for a shot. A neighbor has chickens and she saw a coyote one night as she pulled into her drive. Well yesterday as I was having coffee and reading my devotional, I look out to see a speck in the field hopping around. I assumed it was a buzzard but was surprised to see bald eagle through my binoculars. They are not so rare here anymore. We see them regularly but I have never seen one on carrion. This morning about 20 buzzard have taken his place.

Oh how we try to kill them all. The problem is they are just big rats. You can kill them all in your house and they just go to the next one.

Bald Eagles are not rare here in Oregon anymore either. It was about 30 years ago ,I saw my 1st one , now I spot them all the time. Big ones give me a little tingle down the back of my neck. ...tj
