My latest set of panels, made from purpleheart, from Central and south America , the color is all natural, it can deepen to a violet brown with exposure to sunlight, although a good finish can dramatically reduce this effect. I have a good supply of this if anyone would like a set fit to your grip frame, I think it would look really nice on blued. Thanks for looking. I've named this gun "Jealousy"

Thank you so much, for the compliments guys, each pair has about 5 hrs of work in them, I admit I have a ways to go, but every pair seems to improve, I call them shooter grade, I'm definitely not exhibition grade, but maybe someday, a big thanks to those of you who have given me a chance. Trent

Thanks for sharing. I wanted to see what PH grips look like. I have some spare PH laying around. We use it as cap wood on bilge blocks for our dry docks. I have a couple of 12"x12"x4" blocks set aside for grips. I little trick I was shown was if you hit the wood with a torch enough to heat it but not burn, it turns a dark, deep purple.

Very nice, I've made some knife handles out of purpleheart.

The store where I buy some of the wood for furniture projects just got a big bunch of purple heart wood in. Slabs from 4”-15” wide and upto 6/4 and maybe even 8/4 thick and some 7’-8’ long. Beautiful wood but not sure how it would fit in most homes made into furniture.

I think it would make a beautiful chest or even cabinetry, maybe with some walnut accents, as mentioned above, there are many ways to bring out the color, and depth in purpleheart, I did an acetone wipe, to bring the oil up to the surface after sanding and polishing, a little heat would darken it more, but don't go too far, it will brown, this wood also burnished very easily, as long as it doesn't go to deep , you can sand it out, a very cool wood indeed.

That is beautiful! I would definitely prefer it on a blue gun for contrast. A friend has used that for inlays in custom furniture. The folks at Sears-Trostel told him to avoid splinters, and/or breathing the sawdust, as it can make one feel temporarily nauseous. They said it’s not exactly considered toxic, but it has some natural compounds that can be irritating.
