To me,, spalted woods seem to be about the best looking wood for any kind of "pattern" wood. I like holly for the "ivory" look,, but after that,, spalted maple & especially the spalted maple burl is truly outstanding. Never will you get (2) that look the same.

one of my favorite sets of wood grips from Zane, is this set of Spalted Buckeye burl... ( that coincidentally is on my Ruger Buckeye )  seen some nice spalted Desert Ironwood burl... I personally think those two are some of the nicest... with Maple just slightly behind... but those pictured here are exceptional ( my opinion only ) |
