My John Powers guns arrived this week. John built the Blackhawk a few years ago. I got it from a forum member last year and decided to have a long ejector rod housing added. It's a rebored and rechambered old model super Blackhawk. Now a 45 colt. It has Clements hammer and trigger, brass grip frame, color case and grips by John. It is very accurate. Maybe the most accurate of my 45 colts. The vaquero is awesome to handle. Started out as a new vaquero bisley and John did the lightweight cuts to the frame, custom barrel and front sight, Clements s&w style rear sight, serial# moved to bottom of frame. John finished most of the work last year. I enjoyed it, but decided it needed a proper latch to match the Harold Croft M2 and M4 guns that inspired this effort. I fired more than 50 rounds the other day and the lever stayed in place. Walnut grips are a Scott Kolar DIY kit that I finished out. This gun isn't going to appeal to everybody but it's the closest I will ever get to a Croft gun. And I can shoot it.

That Croft clone is something else. Professor, you gotta fill us in on that base pin latch.

Somehow John got a small spring and tiny ball bearing in there. He sent an extra set in case I ever take it apart and lose them. The latch swings forward and the pin can be pulled. Push the pin back in and swing the lever back. It stays in place. John can do special things. I'm not sure about the frame cuts. I'm not removing the grip frame to find out how he managed that. John is a man of few words based on my experience.
