My sixgun journey is enriched by the two guns I have that David built. I hate to see him retire, but there are so many guns of his to enjoy. I bought both of mine a couple years ago but never had opportunity to have David build one just for me. I love these two. I judge all others on them. He does excellent work all around. I'm proud to have them. Both 45 colt. 6 shot. The Blackhawk is my favorite gun I've ever owned. I've shot both over 2000 rounds each and plan for many more. The vaquero has dovetail front sight. David said he built a group of the same package gun about 20 years ago. I love the nimrod type barrel band on the Blackhawk. Scott Kolar did the mesquite vaquero grips. The Blackhawk has Scott Kolar DIY walnut kit grips that I finished out. I hope many others enjoy their Clements guns as I do. They are no nonsense, ready to work guns.

Your BlackHawk looks perfect! I have one of your Vaquero's brothers. It was a group build organized by Scott Kolar. And this CCG OM 45. (Sorry about pic quality)

Like many of you, I have been fortunate to have owned a number of guns by David over the years. He was one of the first guys I wanted to secure a "Quest" gun from many years ago. That gun is still in the safe. It is an old model 44 flat top that David cut the barrel down on, did the bisley conversion with his unique hammer and trigger, Bowen sight and grips by David's local guy he used for years. I figured this would be my last CCG gun until I saw the 22 baby Vaquero he built pop up for sale last week. As neat as that little gun looks, I may move it to "Quest" gun status especially since David did the build for himself. That one is in transit so no pictures yet except for the ones posted in his selling ad but here is the flat top bisley old model. I think each of the custom gunsmiths seem to have a niche or special talent or feature they become known for. To me, David's unique contribution has always been his old model bisley hammers and triggers. I literally do not own an old model Ruger without one of David's bisley spurred hammers.

Ive got two built by David coming this week. Had the pleasure of working with him for quite a few years on a number of projects and picked up quite a few used. Some are still here and some aren’t. The first Clements gun I had was a No 5 build with an octagonal barrel that I bought from 2 Dogs. I really disliked that grip frame but wish I had it back. Rey did pecan grips on that gun.
When they get here I’ll post some photos.

I have 2 guns Dave did some of his handy work on... newest to me, is an unconverted 3 screw, that he changed from 357 to 40 S&W, for a previous customer, probably back in the 80's... ...& of course one of my favorites... Dave recently took the 1st revolver I ever bought, about 30-35 ish years ago, a stainless 4" 357 GP-100, & shortened the barrel to 3", slab sided it, did some action work, & chambered it to a proprietary cartridge for me ( 10 mm Rimmed )... this one also scratched on by Michael Gouse, it wears a compact GP grip from Ruger ( basically an SP grip that fits on the GP's ) & Zane at LSCG did a pair of Ram's horn inserts for the compact grips... I always say that my custom Buckeye with 4 cylinders would be the last gun I'd ever get rid of... because of it's versatility... but in reality the 10 Mag that Dave built is totally me, & will never go down the road... to complete the package is a gator shuck made by Simply Rugged

Dave builds excellent guns. I've got one coming this week that was a mess. It'll be a FrankenCustom, but it'll be right.
Some really nice guns shown already. Hate to see Dave retire, but he's got fishing on the brain.

A guy works hard all his life... he should be able to retire when he wants, & we should all be happy for him to get to that stage in his life, before dying...
we can feel bad that we didn't get as much of his work, as we selfishly would have wanted... but because the quality of work is so great, we just have to wait around till some of his previous builds become available again...
I feel lucky to have the couple pieces that I own...

This is the only full blown custom Dave Clements did for me. Its a .44 Special built up from a Ruger Three Screw .357 Magnum. The ejector housing and grip frame are steel. Grips by CaryC: I did send this Super Blackhawk to him for refinishing, rebarrelling, and tune up: Not sure about other Rugers. Bob Wright

I kicked myself when I heard Mr. Clements was retiring, as I was this close to picking up a 6" GP-100 to have him convert to .41 Special. Reckon that's what I get for procrastinating. I did speak with him once on the phone, to ask if he knew of any 'smiths in the VA/NC area to send a gun for some work that I ultimately sent to TGW. Super nice guy & it was fun to shoot the breeze with him for a few minutes. Was kinda sucking my thumb, 'cos I'd really had my heart set on a Clements .41 Special when an esteemed member in NM informed me he just happened to have a pretty little stainless, 5 1/2" flat top Blackhawk for sale in said caliber. If I recall correctly, Mr. Clements had originally built it for himself. I've not had the opportunity to load any ammo for it yet, let alone shoot it (I've got plenty of components on hand, just not the time), but it is a lovely little jewel of a gun. (if the patio table looks familiar, thank the previous owner for taking better pictures than I could)

Several years ago David made my first custom revolver, still one of my favorites. I'll try to find some pictures.
