Don't know much about suppressors. Do they have a lifespan on a 22lr? is there much maintenance involved? Yes, 22 suppressors do require regular maintenance. They must be disassembled and the crud from 22 lr rounds removed with solvents and manual means, i.e. picks and brushes, on a regular basis or they will become ineffective, and possibly damaged. I unfortunately didn't know any better and purchased a suppressor about ten years ago that cannot be disassembled and cleaned. It has reached the end of it's lifespan and does not suppress the sound at all now.

That is really cool Robb. Didn't know such critters existed, now I got a urge to go look.

Nice, Robb! If I'd known you were waiting on this, I could have given you all my subsonic 22 ammo. I don't have any 22's at present and gave away several thousand rounds of ammo to friends and family so I didn't have to haul it to Florida!

How did your move go Doug? Get everything down there in one piece I hope? I am so envious of you getting to shake the dust of Oregon off and head to a new home.

I can imagine that the first time you pulled the trigger,, the smile appeared,, and is a bit hard to wipe off. Shooting suppressed firearms is a lot of fun. Having shot several over the decades,, I can attest to the fact that they are really neat accessories to enjoy. I just wish that the fine lawmakers would get smart,, and remove them from the NFA list. Two years ago we were so close to having them removed. SO CLOSE!! Then some idiot had to commit a crime and 'nope'; just like that our hopes were dashed.

Just because it is not serviceable by you does not mean it is unserviceable at all. The company can do it usually. I send my 30 cal in every three years or so for cleaning and they charge me something like 30 bucks and it is good as new. Sometimes they even replace the endcap for me when they re-weld it back together.

They did offer to sell another suppressor to me at a discount. I might take them up on that offer one day, but I'd have to pay the government fee again and wait months for their approval.

I wonder if you can plug one end, fill it full of acetone and let it sit, what would happen... Might work, might not. Dont know.

Hold on airborne, your post prompted me to re-read the warranty page of the company that made my suppressor. The company has changed hands and the new owners say they "may" service suppressors made by the previous company. I'll give them a call Monday. Thanks for mentioning this.

Yes,, I was following that. I have a good friend who's a lawyer,, who is helping push for changes. We had some long discussions about all this.
Maybe one day,,,!

You know the saying about something being "the most fun you can have with your clothes on?"... THAT is a cool 22 Auto! I think the MKII is perfection in 22 Autos, and I have a 5.5", bull-barreled MKI (NOT a Standard Auto, a REAL MKI), which I ALMOST sent off for threading when I sent my 357 Mag Contender Carbine barrel in. Due to a ridiculously messed up SNAFU, and a whiplash-inducing loss of trust, I held it back.
My own form 4 app JUST went in Friday, after 3 months of dinking around - not on my part. HOWEVER, mine went in as an e-application and the wait is supposedly 2 to 3 months. I've looked passively for a MKII for a couple years now, and kick myself each time the price ratchets up. Seeing yours, I may look harder and may still thread the MKI.
Otherwise, I don't shoot much 22 LR at all, in fact, t he MKI is my only 22 LR.
I (another old guy with his pants still on) hope to have as much fun as you are having now with the 357 Carbine soon.
I'm glad to see this post right now and see the enjoyment this aspect of shooting brings.
I'm just now getting ready to go out in the shop and de-gascheck a 360-190 RDO clone mould for this very purpose. I'll be powder-coating for THIS application only, but I want to build a stash for when the can arrives, so I better get off here and get out there and get started.
You've inspired me to add a threaded 22 pistol to my battery. I can use the one I'm waiting for and decide if I want to buy a dedicated rimfire can later.

How did your move go Doug? Get everything down there in one piece I hope? I am so envious of you getting to shake the dust of Oregon off and head to a new home. We shipped a 16' x 8' x 8' POD, shipped one car, then loaded up the newer car and took 8 days to drive down. Long trip, and the car was loaded heavy and as low as it could go on the shocks/springs. We got here on Valentine's Day, 2.14.22, and felt like we drove into a little piece of paradise. It's an entirely different country than Oregon. No masks or shot mandates... you can wear them, take them, if you want... or not, if you don't want it. Nothing got broken on the trip, but we left behind a lot of stuff we wish we could have taken. But we brushed aside those loses and looked forward to the adventure in front of us. Went to church yesterday and I only counted 5 people in the entire congregation wearing a mask. Best Sunday in 2 years. Best week we've had in 2 years! Took the skyway bridge over to St. Petersburg and stopped at the fishing piers and rest areas in the middle of Tampa Bay. Too cool. Talked to a couple people who were fishing out there. I could really enjoy this place! Drove through the town of St. Pete Beach. Cool town with swanky condos and old town areas. Stopped to get ice cream at Larry's Ice Cream shop. I recommend leaving Oregon whole heartedly!

Ultrasonic parts cleaner like for auto parts, works really well for cleaning a single piece suppressor. You can go by weight on determining when to clean it, when it weighs 10-25% more than new, clean it. CCI makes a subsonic HP that works great on prairie dogs, in urban areas. I don’t know if it will cycle a semi, as I use it in a bolt action, but man are they quiet.
