Looking for some 32/20 trail boss data to be used in a Ruger Buckeye. I have some Oregon Trail .313 115gr pills and cant find load data above 2.5 gr (700fps) on the IMR site. Not looking for a barn burner, but would like to reach 50% case capacity. I have R-P and WW brass, couldn't find any starline. Anyone playing with this?

You're right, the IMR load book is very conservative on their Trail Boss loading. I've looked all over the place and I can't find any heavier loadings for TB anywhere. I do however remember reading somewhere that Trail Boss's designers were quoted as saying that the way to work up a proper load is to approxamate where the base of the bullet comes to in the case and plan on using enough Trail Boss to fill 70% of the case volume under the bullet.

32-20 Bullet: 115 GR. LRNFP Dia. .314" COL: 1.580" Trail Boss 2.2 642fps 11,300 CUP 2.5 707fps 15,300 CUP
2.5gr barely fills the case up 1/3. I made a load ramp starting at 2.5 and going up .2 until I got to 3.3 last night.
3.3 was barely over half. They gotta be conservative for the older guns, but a blackhawk should be able to digest these loads easily.

I will not say how much TrailBoss to use but I seriously doubt you could hurt a Buckeye cylinder with it. I have one and have run H110 and 125gr LBTGC bullets in mine at over 1600fps!
Now the thing you have to ask is if you are wanting to run your bullet at anything more than cowboy action popfart loads is Trail Boss the best powder to use? HS6, Blue dot, 2400, H110/W296 get the nod for me in my Buckeye. I did shoot a few mild loads with W231 but I find in my gun the 32/20 cylinder does not shoot great unless the loads are pretty warm. If I want mild loads I run the 32 mag cylinder, in fact it pretty much will out shoot my 32/20 cylinder at any speed until the 32 mag is pegged and the 32/20 can still go a fair bit faster but I generally don't run my guns that fast....

Thanks, that is the practical I was looking for. 700fps was a little on the slow side. I will be more than content with 1K. I have 2400 and blue dot that I can play with, but I always try to work a load or two of trail boss for comparison.

I use 4.0/ Unique / 725 fps for SASS/CAS loads , and Unique works good to 1100 fps , but IMR4227 is what I use for 1600 fps plus loads , in my Buckeye and these two Vaquero . Meister 115/ .312
