Just put on lay away a nice 1899 Krag carbine. Don't know a thing about it, but it sure is nice.  |

Congratulations!
I've wanted a Krag for a long time. Whenever I scrape up enough money to go looking, all I find are excellent examples that cost a fortune or hacked-up jobs. I never would have thought so, but after looking a few times, I'd guess more Krags were "sporterized" than any other rifle.
I wouldn't even mind a nicely done sporter, but all I see are ones that look like they were cut down while held under one leg on the tailgate.
