Wanted to poll you guys and see who has been in years past. Was it worth the trip to you? it would be about a 2 day drive just to get there from East, Texas where I live and then another 2 day drive back. I have always wanted to go and the museum there would be a bonus as well as just seeing the area. Maybe a stop to Little Bighorn battlefield on the way or back. Thoughts, David

It's well worth it. I have driven there from NC before. Better to fly.

I was wondering that as well. Don’t they normally have it in May or June?

Anyone have any details, is it a shoot or a seminar? Sounds interesting either way. If it's June I'm out, I'll be in New Mexico.

I went last year for the first time and it was fantastic. I will be going every year it is held. The shoot lasts 4 days, and usually falls around fathers day weekend. There are no dates currently posted but expect it to be about mid-June. Based upon my experience, the shoot is a come-as-you-please affair. People filter in and out over the course of the 4 days. It wasn't so much a seminar aside from what you learn from other shooters on the range. Which isn't to down play that at all because you can really learn a lot. By the final day they had me ringing steel at 200 yards with a revolver, and I nearly hit the Buffalo target at 1000. The attendants were just as kind and friendly as can be. It was really great to be surrounded by folks who love big bore revolvers. I'm the only person in my friend group that is passionate about revolvers so the comradery was nice. Usually every evening ends at the Irma for dinner.
I visited the museum as well and it was excellent. You can easily spend all day there. There are 5 museums under one roof with the arms museum being one of them. I spent all day in just the arms museum, but the others looked excellent as well.

In 1963 when I was playing football in college we traveled through Cody on our way to Powell, Wyoming to play a game. We stopped at the old original museum which was in one small building, and I think was made out of logs, might be wrong. But it sure wasn't very big back then. Now it takes 2 full days to see & even then you have to hurry. Dick

It’s only about 9 hours away from N Idaho. We’re spending a couple days at the Lamplighter, and a couple at the Irma

It’s in June. I’ll get the dates. John called a Couple of days ago to let me know. I’ll be there a month so I didn’t pay attention to the dates.
Well worth it
