Hate not to put this in the hijack thread but it really goes here. Took pictures and measurements of a LB 1911 and a Springfield 1911. At this point in time I'll mention that in the 80s my gunsmith told me to buy the NM marked Springfield because the front strap was thicker. The Springfield in these pictures is marked NM.

The intent in this picture is to show the thickness of the front straps. The LB measured .140. The Springfield measured .075

This picture shows the back end thicknesses. The mainspring housings are identical.

These two pictures show the undercut LB trigger guard and the standard Springfield. FWIW I was careful to not include these areas in my measurements

Here's a set of Persinger grips on a Baer.
Here is the same set on a recent Wilson. On a Dan Wesson there is very little frame showing in front of the grips. Both of these guns have a very square feeling transition from the side of the frame to the front.

The actual extra length of the LB is absorbed in the longer curve in the front strap arc. They are both exquisite pieces of hardware. 50 yard X ring guns. Dan Norwood built the Springfield for me in the mid 90s. KC Crawford rebarreled the LB and did the Marvel disconnector cut for me a few years back. I shoot equally well with each of them..

Several of my friends bought SA guns back around 1990...when I picked them up I could feel the difference between them and the Colts I had.
