Started making brass for the 30 Reece. Found a lot of information and misinformation on the net. Not exactly a surprise.
Tim will be posting pictures. But, I'll kick this off.
You can make 30 Reece by simply running 38 Special Brass thru the FL Sizer. Cases are a little short, but probably not enough to matter.
My gun accepts brass at 1.185", so I decided to make cases from 357 Magnum.
Cases are first run thru the 30 Reece FL Sizer. Afterwards they are cut just a tad long on my Dremel Drill Press with a cutting wheel attached.
Then squared and trimmed at 1.180". After that it's simply chamfer, debur and load.
I use this cutting set up on several wildcats. Including 500 JRH, 30 Herrett, 300 GNR, etc. It cuts about 10 cases per minute.
I just use nylon jaw pliers and safety glasses. I'd rather keep fingers and eyes free of brass cuttings.
Easiest way I've found to cut cases shorter...

Thanks Tim!!!
I can cut about 10 cases per minute using this method. The cut is very smooth and much better than the hacksaw method...

I figure I'm not the only one who trims cases. Probably not the only one who likes tinkering with oddball cartridges.
Some people make way too much work out of forming wildcats. Some are harder than others, but if there's an easier way...

Are correct dies available for the 30 Reece? I have been wanting to do a blackout for my G2, but since I like odd/wildcat cartridges, this is up my alley. I have been looking @ MGM for the barrel and they chamber both the Reece and Badger. I am looking for mostly a subsonic round so I am leaning to the badger so I don't have to trim cases.

I can't answer that about the 30 Reece Dies. Can tell you if you use 38 Special Brass, no trimming is necessary. One pass and load...

I use a pipe cutter on a couple of mine. Maybe figure out how much to cut off before forming then just a regular trimmer after the fact?

Asa, problems with that approach. But, I tried it.
Cases lengthen when necked down. Thing is, the don't all lengthen the exact same amount.
You end up putting them thru the case trimmer twice...

So for the dies, are you using a 30 Mauser/Tok size die? To set the shoulder?Just screw die down to shell holder and go to town? I can't find any case dimensions for either the 30 Reece or 30 Badger.

I'm forming 30 Reece and have the correct dies. I can maybe get dimensions posted if you like...
