I looked those bullets up. Very interesting! Also expensive. I wouldn't be shooting coyotes with those bullets for sure. Have you priced Nosler bullets lately?

hammerbullets.com/product/358-cal-220g-hammer-hunter/Powder selection for the Hammer tends to be different than other bullet styles and fps gains usually higher than 200 fps I suspect you’re leaving velocity on the table with this load. No matter. Accurate and powerful as-is. Is recoil different using Hammer bullets? Pressure is down, muzzle energy is up. Curious how that changes feel. I tried 64.5 gr. today and I think I could easily go to 65 gr. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/W4pSYws7/20211118-144936.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/bv6g7SJf/20211118-144816.jpg)

The modern powders are fantastic.
Ten or so years ago I had done some things with 2000MR in the 308 with hybrid Berger hunting bullets.
I was getting over twenty loads through a piece of brass running the 185 Classic Hunter at over 2700fps in a 20" barrel, very accurate too.

What do you plan on hunting with the rifle? Mostly deer. Louisiana has what is called "Primitive Weapon Season" to qualify requires a single shot with an exposed hammer this gives 3 extra weeks of hunting. Area 6 opens up modern gun season in the morning, 20 November. Still waiting on our rut to kick in so I haven't seen much movement. Good luck! You getting those velocities out of a Scout V2?

Power Pro 2000-MR is the heavy bullet powder for the 35 Whelens. I started working with it for my custom Mauser with 24 inch, 14 twist barrel, when it first came out. My rifle has a tight chamber for the Ackley 40° shoulder, with fired cases holding an average of 74.2 gr of water. Using the Nosler 250 Partition seated to 3.34" I worked up to 62.5 grains, then backed off to my hunting load of 61.5 grains for a muzzle velocity of 2620 fps. With Remington nickel plated brass I've gotten 11 loadings and still have tight primer pockets. I also worked up the Hawk 275 grain with .035" jacket to 2450 fps.
