I've hunted deer with many rifles but since I had a bad fall from a deer stand in October of 2014 and subsequent surgeries to repair a shattered right shoulder ending in a total reverse replacement of that shoulder I have had the need for a softer recoiling rifle caliber deer rifle. My choices to fill my needs have since been the 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC and 350 Legend in the AR platform. Also, I have taken deer with a Ruger No.1 in 243. But I have found that the 350 is as accurate as my other AR rifles and killed a nice SC 8 point whitetail last season as well as a very nice doe. Anyone else discovered this round as a great sub 250 yard deer getter?

Yes ! Some searches here on forum may show you threads and questions I've asked. I have a Savage Axis 2. I have the Win factory 180gr loading. Deer big up here and bear tag onboard. Am set to handload but have only played with using a 147gr XTP for a play load. It will not feed from mag though.

I loaded some 180 Winchester PP for a friend of mine last year. PIA brass from ball ammo has crimped primers and I had to swage the pockets out. Anyway, 3 shots 3 very dead deer. I think that 180gr. bullet with a large amount of exposed lead makes a great killer at the velocities that the .350 Legend runs. I am considering getting aRuger American in the caliber.

Depending upon the state you reside in and the amount of recoil you can handle, it may be your best option. Nice buck 👍

Yes, the 450 option came to use 1st when some states decide to allow straight wall cases. Many said it's recoil no nicer than a 12ga slug gun anyway. The 350 delivers what Winchester planned, promised. The primer pocket issue true. Brass that ran down assembly lines adapted from Mil-Spec lines got primer pockets crimped. The last thing I need to handload is a primer pocket tool. I've loaded bought Starline. The Winny brass being put aside.

You can use a deburring tool to remove the crimp. I have a complete Legend rifle and two cases of Federal ammo. It is next for the testing range after deer season.
