Got a couple nice ones from CCG a few days ago. Now to find time to shoot them... Next is another that I've been wanting to do. It's a 4" .45AR/ACP/Colt built on an OM .357 flat top. Once again with Davids hammers and his custom wide smooth trigger with wonderful coloring by Turnbull and nitre blue screws by David. This is a super handy and light revolver. Amazingly so...and it points well too. Of course the same sight set up. David installed one of his rear cylinder bushings you've heard about some recently on the .45AR/ACP cylinder as he said the frame stretched during the coloring. David always gets them right. I kinda like the black grips on it. Kinda' retro. Well the gun is old.I'm thinking if I can find some Ruger factory stags without selling a kidney they might be nice. Until then these will do. Hey...that's my gun!!

David does do a nice job on the old model bisley conversions. This one stayed as a 44 mag and he had his local guy do the grips if I remember correctly. I was searching for pictures of old model flattops when I came across the beauty, and it made me wonder how long the barrel is? Is that a 5” barrel?

David’s retirement is a huge loss to the revolver community. That gun is currently my Clements Quest gun and the conversion to bisley configuration epitomizes his metal work and his old model bisley parts. In fact, every old model Ruger I own wears or will soon be wearing his bisley style hammers.
The fact that I was able to acquire David’s personal custom 22 single six may relegate this old model flat top bisley to the rehome list once the final reduction rounds starts.

Well, Sir, I would love for that bisley to reside in my home! I am currently on the hunt for a Clements Bisley hammer for use with the SAA/XR3 grip frame. I’ve gathered together an OM 357 flattop, a PC steel SAA style grip frame, and a Bowen long cylinder blank. The Clements hammer is the last piece of the puzzle! I hope Ronnie Wells will start making those Clements OM BISLEY hammers. If he starts making those Clements designed hammers and steel grip frames, I may change my plans to include a steel bisley Junior grip frame and an old model Clements style Bisley hammer for use with Bisley grip frames. Oh, the possibilities!

If you can’t find a Clements hammer you could look at one of the Power Custom units. I’m not sure if he makes an old model bisley spurred hammer for a regular frame but if he doesn’t you could buy his old model bisley hammer and and recontour the area to match the grip frame. Ronnie will hopefully have his hammers ready soon as well.

However, Ben Forkin once told me that they are harder than woodpecker lips (he might not have used those exact words) and modifying one would be a pain in the butt. I may end up going that route, but it in the short term I’m hoping for Ronnie to come through. Thanks again!

It caused me great pain to list that gun when Dave wanted to sell it. But, was glad when it went to a good home.
