I am a KnifeWhore as well as a GunWhore, but I only have 3 that I use for serious work. There all fairly small, but they handle really well. I like the look of a beautiful Bowie or a competition chopper, but there not comfortable for me to do serious work with. ***** Twice, tracking elk, I fashioned an alpinstalker with a German Edgebrand carbon flat-ground Bowie with full-tapered tang and stag scales. Same blade even better on moose. The blade retains its edge to get game skin & dressed, whittle a shelter. Paid for its weight then & there, both times. Shirt rolled up or removed, hands inside, lay flat of the blade edge angle slightly up on fingers of frozen off hand. Cut tissue to release the guts boiling your hand, cut all the way down. Blades are more personal than firearms. David Bradshaw
