I think the rebore to .41 isn't the issue...
If you want to put this on a single action Ruger Blackhawk or equivalent you are going to lose about 2" in barrel length. I was told my 6" Model 57 barrel would get me a 4" flat top in 41 Special.
So, your 4" DA barrel would get you a Sheriff's Model snubby of about 2"?
So, are you going with SA or DA revolver with this rebore?

I am looking at a parts set of a crushed 28 and considering having my 28 turned into a 41 with a new cylinder and rebored barrel.

A M28 cylinder is only long enough for a .41 special.
Kings6 has a nice one.

You have an N frame so you could use a model 57 barrel if you can find one to go with the new cylinder. I get that you are looking for a "Mountain Gun" configuration with the re-bored barrel, have I understood that correctly?

It's all about that tapered barrel.
The same with the gun in the gallery under "Snake". It's a .41 magnum built on a M27 and has a 5" barrel. Perfect!

A M28 cylinder is only long enough for a .41 special. Kings6 has a nice one. Not technically true, my uncle made one into a 45 colt and as long as he sticks with SAAMI spec length Bullets he is fine, go any longer and you have problems. Basically the same length cylinder as a FA97

All about the tapered barrel.
Top to bottom, 41, 44, and 45. All were 38/44 barrels. Top barrel is one of those new never used barrels from Numerich. Other two I found a couple years ago. The 41 barrel is gonna go on a 28 someday. 44 and 45 barrels will go on prewar (1917/1937) guns.
