Just for S & giggles... I looked on Midways today for hunting ammo... I reload, so don't need anything ( except I was not stocked up on .410 shells ) & it's now big game hunting season, & still no ammo available... I guess with the .410 I underestimated the pressure from the Governors & Judges... but 30-30 ammo... Americas "greatest / most common deer hunting round" season starting and literally nothing out there... seems all the manufacturers are still covering 223 /5.56, & not making the common ( let alone ) the less common hunting cartridges...
I tell ya, it's going to effect new purchases for me in any new calibers I don't already have covered, if you can't buy common ammo over a year into the shortage
I filtered a search, availability, & 5.56 / 223, 7.61X51 / 308... were by far the most available, then the next to show up as available were 50 BMG, 6.5 Creedmoor, 224 Valkyrie, 300 PRC ( what is that??? ), 300 Savage ( Say What??? ), 50 Beowulf, 5.45 X 39, 30 Carbine, High End 45-70,
these were what was available in the 1st 50 listings... 5.56 & 7.61 getting many listings... no 30-06, 270, 30-30 etc....

That's not WHY I cast and hand-load, but it sure makes me even more glad that I do.

I have had piles of new bullet casters calling me for bullet lube and info on how to get started casting.

try ammoseek dot com for finding ammo. Best ammo search engine I have found so far. 30-06 is out there but at around 2.50 a round.

Kinda' cool to see that .300 Savage is one of the few calibers available. Lots of people still prefer to hunt with the old Savage model 99 and the .300 was one of the most popular calibers.
My favorite deer rifle is a 1941 model 99 in .300 S, I haven't bought factory ammo for it in a decade at least but it's nice to know they're still making it.

I think .300 Savage is one of the most under rated cartridges ever. It should do 99% of what needs to be done in the lower 48.

Definitely the worst I've seen as far as the price of 22 LR ammo is concerned, SO glad I stocked up when I did...Still, it'd cost me 3-4 times what I paid to replace it now!
