People always talk about the "only one gun" concept. For me that one would do it! Nice concept and execution of it.

That is a mighty fine custom! I like pretty guns, but the utilitarian ones will always be closest to my heart.

Nice one Greg. I've got a new .32-20 5" barrel I bought off the S&W forum that I am seriously thinking about using for a convertible.

COOL. WHAT CYLINDER DID YOU USE FOR THE RECHAMBER? I AM CONSIDERING A SIMILAR PROJECT BUT USING A MODEL 53 22 JET BARREL FOR THE REBORE, AN AUXILLARY 22lr JET REVOLVER CYLINDER FOR THE RECHAMBER (THOSE CYLINDERS ARE LONGER THAN THE MODEL 17 CYLINDERS), AND A ROUND BUTT MODEL 19 AS THE DONOR GUN. HAVE 6 INCH AND 4 INCH 22 JET BARRELS I COULD USE. Did basically the same thing with a Model 53 with 6" barrel a few years ago. Had a 1961 that had burned out the first barrel and had been replaced with a period correct second barrel. The burned out barrel, .22 rimfire cylinder and gun were shipped to Jack Huntington. He had the barrel rebored and then rechambered the .22 rimfire cylinder to .327. He then remarked the caliber on the barrel. The gun shoots like a house a fire and since the second barrel and original .22 Jet cylinder are still intact the gun could be put back to .22 Jet by some future owner. Only minor problem is the front sight height. It will run bullets to 100 grains to POA but 120+ grain bullets are about 3" high at 25 yards with the rear sight all the way down. Really no big deal as I have tons of jacketed and cast 80-100 grain bullets... Have fun with your project...Bob

I also have a redone M53 ->327 conversion with a 6" barrel and the weight difference is remarkable. Even my Horvath M15 .32 H&R with a 6" M17 barrel is significantly lighter. Yeah, I know lighter isn't always better but some guns are plain heavy.

When my 53 was also a .22 LR it shot better than ANY of the probably 20 other K and J frame S&Ws .22s that I ever owned... Had better balance than the standard barrel and was not nose heavy like the full lug barrels...

FOR AESTHETICS AND HANDLING ON SMALLER CALIBER K FRAMES, I MUCH PREFER THE 22 JET BARREL PROFILE.
I HAVE ALL THE PARTS AND A DONOR GUN FOR A K FRAME 218 BEE CONVERSION BUT USING A MODEL 48 STYLE BARREL, AS MUCH AS ANYTHING, HAS KEPT ME FROM PROCEEDING. DID NOT WANT TO USE A 22 JET BARREL (FOR .222 BULLETS) FOR A .224 CALIBER BEE CONVERSION.

That is a horrible thing to do to a 15, but it's wonderful all the same!
A year ago I had one 15 I had bought years ago, never fired, and had forgotten about. I now have two, and two 67s as well. After seeing this conversion, I'm going to start looking for a very tired 15 or 19 for a possible similar conversion...

This little thing!!! … man you have some well thought out sixguns. The Culina contour in their Magnas has to held to be understood. You throw that one in the back seat for the next time we see each other. Great project!

I am not sure you were helping me by bringing this back to the top😜 since it will cost me more money. I found a K frame .32-20 cylinder and crane assembly on the S&W forum and bought it. If it doesn’t fit I will send it to JRH to make it work and I do have a model 48 cylinder to become .327 Federal Magnum Ronnie
