I ran across this book and ordered it. This is evidently the story as written by a family about Bill Wilson which inspired the movie about Josey Wales.

JOSE?? I THINK HE WAS FROM MISSOURI NOT MEXICO Haha. Sorry about that and thanks for the catch. I'm home and a little fuzzy with the flu. I might create a few new characters before this fog lifts.

I’ve read stories of Bill Wilson before but haven’t seen that book. Thanks for sharing. Just ordered a copy. He roamed the hills not far from here and definitely strong similarities to the movie character. Calling him Missouri’s most “famous” desperado might be a bit of a stretch. There were these guys named Jesse and Frank that might be a little more well known. Dan

I've read a few places that said the sacking of Osceola was the inspiration for the story, but the Bill Wilson story sounds more likely.
