That’s cool! Great job showing the difference between your grips and the factory grips!

Those grips/stocks reminds me a little of the custom grips Bill Jordan had on his model 19 S&W and some of the Herret's grips/stocks.

Wow! Keeper is right! What a beautiful handgun and that Redhaconda maybe the best looking DA handgun I've seen.

Great idea. My 475 Redhawk is a terror to shoot with the heavier loads. I'll be looking into this for sure now

I'll kick the horse again but the first time I saw a Colt barreled Redhawk was for sale by Tom Casselman. This was prior to Bowens offering of them, loooong before. I was pretty sure I'd never have one. Then someone here posted that it was now a shop offering from Bowen. Off to GB to find one and I did. The gun was in great shape even though I knew once it came back from Bowens shop it would be tight and pretty. When I got it back, I took it out and loaded a cylinder full of 270's at 1,000 fps. Two trigger pulls was enough to tell me this might have been a waste of funds. Some here have stated the hammer left a lot to be desired and I agree but there's a workaround for that and its' name is Andy Horvath. I sent the gun to Andy to get the hammer made right and install a trigger stop. The triggers are too hard to put them in the trigger itself so the frame method is used. I'd spoken to Rob Rowen about some horn grips and at some point the idea of the "bisley" concept came into our conversation. I shifted gears from horn to wood as the horn would have cost more probably than what I had in it so far. I got the red medallions off of E-bay and away he went. I'm unable to photograph the outside of my shooting hand but suffice to say it's a game changer. In the "What did you shoot today?" gallery the gun is pictured with a box of Buffalo Bore 325's made at 1,325 fps. First trigger pull was a horrible mind game of what I was about to get. What? No bashing! I settled down and squeezed off a second round, then hit the steel a few times at about 30 yards. The pictures show what is accomplished. This is a keeper. ***** Two greatest challenges facing the Ruger Redhawk are GRIO and TRIGGER PULL. My first tunes on single action got LETOFF down to 3.25 pounds, below which Bill Ruger said it would malfunction. To put it country simple, a double action revolver requires REBOUND sufficient to reset the trigger. Below a certain threshold, one of two things happens.... Fired single action1) The trigger remains rearward after pull----rebound spring too weak to reset. or 2) The trigger kicks forward at hammer fall, catching the DOUBLE ACTION FLY on the trigger. A lousy trigger job or the purple-ass baboon who pushes on a cocked hammer easily accomplishes #2. The above rules apply to double action revolvers in general, certainly not just Ruger’s. Decades ago, I handed Bill and Bill, jr., drawings of a Redhawk frame cast with a single action backstrap----no double action hump. You might have thought I handed ‘em a sleeping pill. Handsome revolver you have there, David Bradshaw

Thanks for the run down. It looks great. I have a donor I am sending to have something very similar done. One question. Tell us about the hammer. Was that a special request? I've not seen any with wide hammer spurs.
