I was just a sprout in 1957 so my first gun magazines were in the mid 70's. But I hit it hard from then through today. Good times!
Btw, I was a huge fan and reader of Skeeter Skelton's articles, books and opinions. From my dad's generation.

I bought first issue of G&A in local drugstoe, also GUNS. Subscribed to ST when it was newspaper size. Great reading.

As a young troublemaker, I’d go through my grandfather’s stack of gun magazines and loved the articles by some OLD gun writer named BART Skelton. Yeah…I’ve been playing catch-up.
I sent Mr. Taffin a message thanking him for the years and years of reading, since I was maybe 8 years old until now. I was telling him about how I got down this rabbit hole in the first place: a full page picture and article on the coolest gun an 8 year old has ever seen - a Hamilton Bowen (who was that?) Ruger Redhawk in .50GI. It was done up like 1917 S&W and I was weirdly obsessed with it. I didn’t know what any of that stuff was, I just knew that it was the gun path I wanted to go down. Weird how small things turn into big things. That one gun (which I’ve never even touched) sent all sorts of things in motion in my life and accounts (at least in part) for where I’m at now.
I don’t even remember the publication or the author. Wish I did - I’d look up a copy.

You can download the first 12 years I think of Guns. I have them in my phone. Can get lost for hours. Saw John Taffin’s name in 67.......
