Hello,
I am thinking about selling my .500 S&W Magnum BFR on GunBroker. Never sold a gun on there before. What advice can you gentleman provide? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Time your auction to last at least a week, and end on a sunday night. Don’t put your starting bid too high. Take a chance, it usually pays off.

Ensure good pictures. Add a good description. And be wary of bidders with "NR".

All good advice….
I sold a pretty spendy shotgun to a NR buyer a couple weeks ago. Everything went fine. Never had a problem with them. Everybody has to start somewhere and this is going both ways…right?
I used to try and end on Sundays too. The big sellers do. I don’t think it matters what day anymore…. Somebody thats interested in paying top dollar will skip dinner to make sure they get a chance at winning. Do be sure that it ends between 8 and 9 PM EST though to make sure the most folks are done with work and not in bed countrywide.
Only ever had 2 bad sales and they were from experienced buyers. Never had anything go too cheap with a penny start either.
Your experience may differ but thats what I know.

I only mentioned the NR rated users because of the uptick in fake/fraudulent users posting items for sale or stringing sellers along.

Now some fellas balk on a auction that have a reserve, other say starting at a penny pays out with more and higher bids. Right now firearms command a premium! Your choice! Good luck with your sale!

I've never sold a gun on GB but I have sold a lot of knives on eBay. I always use a low starting bid and no reserve and it always works out great. High starting bids or reserves turn off a lot of potential bidders.

Again, thank you for the advice. I am starting to think I will keep the BFR. I wanted to sell it and get an X-Frame, but it the S&Ws are selling for a premium right now.
