I found the thread about the 45 twist rate very interesting so leeching off Aggie's post I was wondering what the different twist rates are for the various 475s. Does anyone know what the custom guys use? Was also wondering what Ruger used in their 480. My BFR has a 1-15. Just found that Freedom Arms uses 1-18

1:18 seems to be the standard twist on custom 475s. I use it on my conversions and it handles a wide ranges of weights. -Lee www.singleactions.com

1:18 DOES SEEM TO BE THE "STANDARD" ONLY REFERENCE I HAVE FOUND THATS DIFFERENT IS THAT HODGDON LISTS 1:20 ON THE .475 LINEBAUGH PRESSURE TEST BARREL. HAD A .480 RUGER @ 1:18, IT HANDLED 308g TO 427g PILLS WITH NO TROUBLES.JUST WASN'T A BIG FAN OF THE SRH DOUBLE-ACTION MYSELF. WHEN ORDERED THEW PAC-NOR BLANK FOR MY 5SHOT BISLEY .480 CONVERSION I HAD MULTIPLE CHOICES BUT STUCK WITH THE 1:18 BECAUSE I KNEW THAT WORKED

All of my 475 conversions have been done using 1:18" Pac Nor.....I've been very pleased with how they perform across a wide range of bullets. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Just talked to Mr. Linebaugh - 1 in 18" is what he uses for .45 Colt, .475 & .500.
