Maybe Ronnie Wells will offer BFR gripframes. If it did, this would become a moot discussion. Those that like the BFR-banana could run them stock. Those that don't would have an almost endless number of RDW designs to choose from (ex - Bradshaw Bisley, the Dealer, etc, etc). -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time" I dont have a Bannana or bisley grip frame to check out. Somebody send me one. I will Match that Mammy to a Ruger for you. R

Hey Squigz is it the Banana bisley that everyone likes so much? No, it's the plowhandle one that BFR offers with that gawdy rubber grip. The Banana is on the BFR currently. Wasn't sure if you needed just a grip frame or specifically the banana itself. But figured I'd offer what I have.

well thank you podna, But ive got a couple of those, i just need to get the pattern even off of a grip so i can see which version i have to modify as a cleaner match to the new BFR. Alot of men prefer it and its just another shape so i dont think anyone would have a problem with me making a match for a different brand of SA.

If Ronnie keeps the same shape of the banana but extended the top into a real Bisley type hiding the screws, it would fix alot of the goofy look but keep the excellent recoil control.

If Ronnie made a Bisley for the BFR, I'd jump the fence. Craig i have completed the Basic differences of the Ruger mounting to the BFR and will soon offer alum, Stainless and brass for them. I have a working 4 degree on a 475 BFR as we speak. They are wider and a bit different but not much. Sit tite, its coming! R Are the screws all in the same places? I was always curious exactly what the difference was.

It has already been well discussed how important individual fit is with a revolver grip, frame and material. I had the BFR, it was an older 475L, and came with the Dragoon frame and pachmayr shoes. I immediately sent it to MR for their so called "Bisley" grip frame and my favorite FA grip material, Black Micarta shoes. For me it did a much better job of taming recoil, and saving the middle knuckle on my middle finger.
Sadly for me as David stated it did nothing to enhance accuracy, as the feel was just wrong and uncomfortable for me. I found it in no way pointed instinctively, and could not get a feel for centering the roll in my hand, always left and right from shot to shot. I also found the revolver to large for my liking. Some say it is not that much bigger, but after over half a century shooting Ruger Blackhawks, and then FA 83's, to me it is HUGE.
No doubt many here prefer it, and for that we are blessed to have choices. But for me, The Ruger Bisley is my prefered and favorite revolver and grip, but the factory shoes suck, and all mine are now replaced and fitted by me, and my favorite is still Micarts, or good polymer. As for the FA grip frame, well to me this is perfection, but still prefer the Micarta over the winewood, but it and the Ruger are equally effective for me when what matters is the goal, for me that is consistency, pointability, and accuracy when shooting in the field.
I sold the BFR as accurate as it was on bags, I just couldn't shoot it freehand like I can my smaller and better fitting Rugers, or FAs in my hands, but I fully understand how well it can work for some. Good Luck with the new revolver!

I am much more accurate with a Redhawk than with any single action, but I am practicing alot to improve. My point was the recoil taming effect of the banana grip. Ronnie Wells can explain the mechanics behind it far better than I. I just know it works and this thing will drive tacks at 50yds from a rest. I'm learning sa grip form anyway, so the adjustment will be negligible for me.

More proof of how subjective recoil is. A Redhawk .44 was my first big bore revolver at age 16. Never could get along with it. The Bisley is infinitely better in my hands. As is the Super Redhawk.

I said accurate, not neccesarily comfortable. Especially with the Linebaughs. Heavy 475 and 500's hurt.

I finally got to handle a BFR Bisley and Ruger Bisley at the same time. I have a couple Ruger Bisley gripped revolvers and always wanted them to be bigger so my hand would fit on the grip and not hang off or impede the hammer and more clearance behind the trigger guard. Well the BFR seems to fill most of those requirements from just a few minutes comparing them to each other. I think I am going to have to buy one and see if I like it as well as I think I will. Now to figure out what caliber to get.

I think I am going to have to buy one and see if I like it as well as I think I will. Now to figure out what caliber to get. For utility it's hard to beat the 44mag. But the 500 jrh will out perform it and it's easier to find components for versus my favourite, the Linebaugh 475 & 500.
