Six years, or even four is much too long to wait IMO. Hell, I don’t even buy green bananas at this stage of my life !

The custom revolver thing is not for everybody, that is for sure . I send them off, girder about them gif a couple years then NICELY check in about every 6-8 months after that. Kind of like waiting fir the feds to process a suppressor paperwork. Send it in then forget about it.
I gave one going on 7 years I think right now.

My only concern waiting that long is that I may not be here that long... you just never know.
I put in a custom order for a hat and was quoted 12 months... got annoyed around the 2 year mark and then it showed up. I love the hatter's work; it's exemplary. But doubling the quoted wait time is bad business in my mind and I wouldn't do it again. Especially when I can have an excellent fedora from a Eugene hatter in about 3 months.
As stated above, Alan Harton surprised me with a shorter than quoted return time... and his work was fabulous. You can see his work in my avatar, the 45 Colt Montado.

Some 'smiths (John L comes to mind) have a long waiting list. In Dustin's case(I waited 4 years for my 475 Bisquero) he is a part-time gunsmith full time Hay Farmer/Broker. SO he has both a back-log and limited time. He does much of his gun-building after hay is put up and maintenance is done on equipment. My observation. Your mileage may vary.

Yes, it is a Kimber of Oregon in 6.5x55. Thanks for the kind comments on the Revolver. John really wanted to make it a round barrel, but I had to ask him pretty please to go octagon. He said this one was his 4th octagon build. He liked it so much that he's started building more. I'm going to have some gold bars added to the front sight.
