I got a e mail from Ronny telling me my package was shipped with my Brass potato judge , grip frame on the way.
I would love to do the job myself. But i am not at all confident about disassembly and reassembly.
I got a box today from Bowen Custom, with 2 rear sights.
I put a target model on my single 7, and was doing great till i had to put the pivot pin back in. This is a beautiful Custom revolver, with a lovely case hardened frame.
I was being very carful and when the pin got stuck i put the part that was sticking out through 2 cleaning patches to protect the frame. And tapped with my little plastic hammer.
After screwing around with it for a hour , i took it to a smith. He will charge me a minimum 60.00 to put that damn pin in.
But that's better than marring my beautiful custom ,327.
Then I went to put a rough country on my stainless Bisley .41 mag. I could not get the damn pivot pin out of the darn thing. I finally gave up and put it on my 4 5/8ths Super Blackhawk.
My rough country had a little screw in the tiny pkg that was taped to the instructions. should that not have been a spring ? frankly I think it will work fine without the spring, But i can not find a place for the little screw and there was no spring in the box. The ruger spring will not fit the hole in the sight. So i assembled it without the spring.
It is solid as can be , and i can lock adjustments in place just fine.
Point is i spent Hours trying to install the excellent Bowen sights , with less than satisfactory results. What chance is there of my properly reassembling my Blackhawk if I strip the whole thing down ?
The more I think about it the more apprehensive i get. I would be on top of the world if i got it right, but if I lost a part or just could not get the parts to fall in place . i would be very very disappointed.
Watching the videos on you tube don't make feel any better at all. ...tj By the way i called Ruger to order 4 of the rear sight pivot pins, 4.00 a wack.
That is crazy. a dollar for 10 seems more lick it !
