When the stainless steel Model 625 5" heavy under lug barrels came out in 1988 and 1989, one in .45 ACP and the other is .45 Colt I tested both and wrote them up and subsequently purchase them. Still have them. Great shooting sixguns. John - THAT article by you prompted me to immediately purchase a 5" Model of 1988 625 in .45 ACP. Then a 4" Model of 1989. Then a 3" Model of 1989. I still have them and shoot them regularly. Some of my favorite N frames. I still have the article, too. My editor at that time set along his fully custom .45 ACP sixgun and we were both amazed that the factory version out shot it! In addition to my first two originals I had a stainless steel .45 Colt Mountain Gun re-barreled as the original barrel when I bought it as the use gun and a slight bulge in the barrel which destroyed the accuracy. Smith & Wesson did not have any replacement 4" Mountain Gun barrels but they did have one of the heavy under lugged 1989 4" barrels. So we went with that and with the results in accuracy I was glad they did not have the right barrel.

I decided to try the RIMZ plastic moon clips. They have two versions, one heavier made than the other. Both work well, but only use the thick one now. (Can’t remember the model numbers for each). Have not used my loader, de-mooner, or a steel clip since. I’ve read a few complaints about the RIMZ moon clips online but haven’t found any of them to apply in my use. My S&W M22-4 has become one of my favorite N frames after abandoning the steel clips. I was seriously looking at AR brass, but not now.

I have both steel & Rimz plastic moon clips for my S&W 610... never had an issue with the Rimz, & no tools needed to load or unload... suspect they'll wear out sooner than the steel clips... but I've been using one almost exclusively for only 3-500 rounds so far, but still works great...

Congratulations on your purchase...can't believe that S&W has NO .45 revolvers on their website!!!??
Have had several S&W .45 ACP revolvers over the years but the best shooting was a 625-7 5" PC. Had two of them...sold one to a friend who was collecting .45 ACP revolvers and the other on GunBroker... Told my friend if he ever sold "my" gun I wanted right of first refusal... A few years ago he started downsizing and I got the 625-7 back...it won't be going anywhere...

USPSA rule changes a couple years ago killed most of the market for the 625, the JM model in particular. And it wasn't what you'd call a giant market in the first place.
The JM grips are an odd one for me, I love the way they feel holding the gun and hate the way they feel firing the gun.

Just drove up to the Brookhaven range to try out the grips on the JM , alas the pistol range is closed due to repairs......

I use an old "Sam Brown" double speedloader holder. I get two loaded moons in each pouch.

On Page 48 of the Dillon Blue Press this month are the Comp-Tac IDPA Model for revolvers. There are also Hogue and California Competition Works Moon Clip Holders. I use the ones from CCW...
There used to be a great Safariland paddle holster that I have for my K/L frame S&W and also fits the GP-100. They used to have them for N-frame also but it has been discontinued.

...that is a real good price...on the auction sites they are bringing well over that...
Was thinking the other day...this will be the first time since 1917 that S&W hasn't had a .45 ACP revolver on the roster...
