Been wanting one ,but not needing ,so I had it on back burner. Lgs had a performance center model that got me thinking again and again I did not purchase , but went home to do a little research. Turns out the model is no longer on s&w website! Mosied over t the s&w forum and yes they are no longer producing them. So I went back to lgs and of course it was gone. But they did have a full lug non performance center 625 which I scooped up. Happy guy here!

I've always thought I wanted one as well... just never ran across one while I had the money

Had a JM 625 and it was superaccurate. In a supreme moment of stupidity, I sold it, to fund something else and have regretted it for several years. 6 years and a couple of months to be more precise.
Have attempted to purchase it back from the guy I sold it to and he just laughs and walks away. Did swap out the grip though.

I was perusing the S&W website last week & there are NO 45 ACP revolvers currently offered.

When the stainless steel Model 625 5" heavy under lug barrels came out in 1988 and 1989, one in .45 ACP and the other is .45 Colt I tested both and wrote them up and subsequently purchase them. Still have them. Great shooting sixguns.

I had a friend who bought one several years ago. I took it with me to have Jerry sign it & the box for him. He prizes it. I got to shoot it too. SWEET! But I just can't get him to sell it to me,,,,,,,,,,,! Darn it!

Won't sell? Wait for a weak moment and be ready with the cash!

Both are nice guns... PC gun has a shorter cylinder and better hammer and trigger.

Hey Axe any tips on the care and feeding of the 625? How about brand of moon clips, this is my first experience with them. I did order a loaded/ demooner from Dillon. Thanks

I just picked one up earlier this week, too. It's my first go-round with a 45 acp in a revolver but I'm looking forward to seeing what it will do. Now if I can only get some free time to run it.

Auto Rim brass is your friend... TK Custom makes good clips. The Demooner works well when you need it but the guys that shoot these things a lot use another tool that loads all 6 rounds in one movement. Someone will chime in with details for you..

Figures as I have a ton of 45acp brass and loaded ammo for my 1911! Pretty much bought this because of that and picking up brass at the public range is a chore. I’ll give the auto rim brass a look over on starline and hopefully for once they don’t have it to ship! Lol The loader you mentioned sounds great! I’m game if someone posts the model. Thanks

Still have them. Great shooting sixguns. John - THAT article by you prompted me to immediately purchase a 5" Model of 1988 625 in .45 ACP. Then a 4" Model of 1989. Then a 3" Model of 1989. I still have them and shoot them regularly. Some of my favorite N frames. I still have the article, too.

I've always used the moon clips from ranch products and the BMT mooner. No problems with either.
