I went to a subgun operators school some time ago on a day like that. It might not have been as cold but it was raining. We were running new Colt Commandos with 11 inch barrels in .223 cal. Sometimes them short barrels will put out a big fireball.

Gary your SIG (right?) looks pretty handy. My issued carbine is the Commando in semi only. Currently running a Micro T1 on it, but thinking about putting on a personal 1.5-5X Leupold IR but non-MRT in LaRue SPR and piggybacking a T1 at 2-o'clock.
Just can't afford a S&B CQB SDT.
Probably not vital; too much office time, have only skinned it recently for a burglary call at a Homeland person of interest's house.
A 12-in. Guide Gun would be just as handy and hit harder, though...
