... Thanks for bumping... saw the original post & liked that... but missed out on all the good stuff that followed... I have 3 pieces of nice Koa here as well... actually have a pretty good collection of grip woods... but every time I send Zane a grip frame, seems like he has something nicer to use... I have a cool dedicated 40 S&W 3 screw that Dave Clements did the conversion on, I got from a member here... the grips were still factory, & didn't fit as well as Zane is capable of doing, so like your 50 GI, off my 40 S&W grip frame went to LSCG... he seemed to find a blank of Walnut I liked better than what I had... so I'm ( trying really hard to wait patiently ) for the pictures, & for him to tell me to send the money I think he is in the process of applying the finish I also think those copper colored powder coat bullets look awesome I'm thinking I need to continue down my own 50 GI rabbit hole.... your's sure is a beauty I'm also not a fan of the rebated Rim... I understand it's use most of the time, it's to fit an existing gun's bolt face to make conversions easier or cheaper... I shoot 50 A.E. ( also rebated ) it was supposed to fit a 44 Magnum bolt face on the Desert Eagles, so they could sell Deagles with conversion kits, just swap barrels & magazines... I've never had an issue with the rebated rim on the 50 A.E. in either the Automag 5, I used to own, or in my custom Super Blackhawk ... I've not shot anything in 50 Beowulf, but have heard of numerous cases of separation at the rebated rim on that cartridge... On the 50 GI, I wouldn't expect any issues with the rebated rim in a revolver... but it may shorten case life in an auto, because it sure does look thin on the fat stubbie cartridge

I just picked up a NM Vaquero with the proper serial # placement to have a .50 GI lightweight built but am fighting the temptation!
Hard to find base gun these days.

A solid contender for the PPP title. After seeing that wood, am guessing some messages and phone calls went out too ! I get a grin out of the idea of using copper colored powdered paint on the cast bullets too !

On the 50 GI, I wouldn't expect any issues with the rebated rim in a revolver... but it may shorten case life in an auto, because it sure does look thin on the fat stubbie cartridge I have tested the 50GI to some very heavy loads and I have never had brass failure issues (other then having some starting loads get crunched in my AR15 because of not enough power to cycle the action) the only issue I have had is case mouth splits because of work hardening. Once I figured out the cause, I just anneal the case mouth by setting cases in water and filling the case to almost the top of the mouth and hit them with a torch and get a little color change and I haven't had any mouth splits since. I have to admit that I have several batches of cases that have been reloaded a better part of 50X. I have heard that the 50 Beo has had issues when people run max loads and had issues with the case failing/poor case life, but the pressure difference between the 50 Beo and the 50GI are huge and people tend to push the 50 Beo to see if they can make it a BMG. I find that by keeping the 50GI to 23,000 psi it runs great as well as case life is great and it doesn't beat you or the gun up. (Although I do run a 24lb recoil spring in my Glock conversions since I do use them suppressed and I like to keep the slide locked as long as possible to avoid port pop.)

I’m curious, has that koa been stabilized, and polished on a wheel?
