I just planned on d&t of a second point on the Ruger. As for the BFR it is already d&t for mounting. In fact mounts for a Ruger pc already has the same screw spacing as the BFR. Saw that on one of the forums somewhere and ordered one. Mounted a holosun on my son's 454. Had to use different screws than what it came with, but he liked it. Much lower profile than the factory rail. Since I am getting blind as a bat, it's time to start mounting them on mine. Love the ones I have for the crossbow, ar, and have used them for years since the C-more came out on my race guns.

I haven’t seen those mounts. Do they only have one screw? What about an opposing screw in the rear to exert force on the little “shelf” below the sight just above the top of the hammer? Do they not have something there to also help keep it all tight? I’ll do more looking and pull up some drawings on footprints of the various ones mentioned here. I’m sure we can all come up with something that would work...

If the rear sight is removed to mount the base, what about drilling a hole through the rear site pin through the optic base? Since the hole is already in the revolver, a hand drill could accurately drill through the base and the pin would secure the rear portion of the base.

RECENT POSTS ABOUT ATTACHMENT POINTS BEAT ME TO THE THE TOPIC. HOW DOES THE ALLCHIN ATTACH? RS SCREW HOLE ONLY OR WHAT? THE RAPTOR BASE ON MY SINGLE 7 STICKS OUT ABOVE THE FRAME, THE ALLCHIN MOUNT SEEMS TO FIT FLUSH IN THE REAR SIGHT CHANNEL AND ON TOP OF THE FRAME, WHICH MAY MAKE IT EASIER TO D&T AN EXTRA ATTACHMENT POINT??? I don't know yet. I'm in hock to the blankin' USPS and it'll get delivered when they choose to. As soon as I get the one I ordered I'll update this. I'm not even close to an expert on these revolvers, but I agree with you flyingzebra about nothing being exact on the the revolvers as a whole. I know many mention drill and tap another hole, bit as long as I have spare pins I'll keep on drilling for the pin. Luckily my shooting partner has a super expensive TIG and does aluminum and SS for a living so adding more aluminum is easy. Different ways of doing the same thing but no extra holes my way (but the extra screw would be stronger I suspect).

For the drill/tap for an extra mounting screw, I'd run it in the rear sight channel, so that it wouldn't be visible when the iron sight was replaced.
On my 5.7x28 it's not necessary, and I made that mount specifically for whatever artistic contours are present on that particular frame - and with no recoil it hasn't been a problem.

I'll bet it looks nice! It must be a terrible thing to have a mill and a lathe and know how to use it! I knew the screw hole would be through the rear sight recess, but only I trust myself to drill through the rear sight pin holes. I leave the D&T to you that know what you're doing.

When drilling through the sight pin hole, you must be careful not to wallow out the hole. Also drill halfway through from one side then drill from the other the rest of the way or the hole will not line up using a hand drill. Just my 2 pennies.

From Raptor Engineering just now... We are still recovering from a horrible fire in our Santa Cruz CA mountains. We had to evacuate for a couple of weeks. Our house and shop were spared unlike several of our friends homes. However, we are not yet back up and running the mount production. Our machinist is still dealing with post-fire issues. At this point it is unclear if we will resume operation. If we get going again we will get back to you. Regards, Susan Raptor Sight Mounts www.raptor-eng.com

Okay, time to wake this thread up. I still can't get an electrician to wire up my new shop to fire up my machinery. Is nobody working these days? flyingzebra & Zeus, did you guys ever get a mass production design done? I am looking for a RMR to BFR mount.

I may have some news after the NRA show, the company that makes some Burris FF mounts is willing to make one offs. They are making a mount for me for lever actions and I’ll speak with them at the NRA show.
