This is the raptor mount? Yes, that's it. I always wished he would start offering them in black, but anodizing might be a steep proposition for a small shop. I think he was getting around $50-55 for them. Edit to add - on the plus side, silver makes it easy to file that back lip if it sits a bit proud. Makes for a nice snug fit and takes a bit of the strain off the screws. That would take no time to ceracote and it matches your gun.

Hm.
How many of you guys want these? How many? Which model of dot sight?
I'm using the Burris, and I know they're not all the same for mounting details. Let's see about this.

Not if you would set up to build them it wouldn't!= That’s true. Would be much easier for me to do 25 than it is one. Hahaha I was drawing one in Cad 3D a couple weeks ago for RMR. It wouldn’t take many changes to drawing to have it cut for the other guns. I may cut them this Spring when I have time. One drawing is for picatinny rail for scopes and the other was flat for RMR. Will have to see what it looks like if I merge them 😂 Zebra....you can go to the manuf sites and get bolt patterns. Some are close and may allow for multiple mounting types on one base with associated tapped holes. The bottom shape will be similar but some are far enough different that will may look funny to do a one size model if that makes sense. But the footprint and bolt pattern are out there for the various models

Depending on price I'd be in for 5. Here's a start on the mounting patterns: optics-info.com/footprints-on-red-dot-sights/The Allchin mount accepts several different sights so looking at their pattern could be helpful. I believe that RMR has a larger footprint than most. Be careful...David Clements made up a pile of hammers a while back based on what folks here said they wanted and ended up with a bunch left over. True story.

What I take away from this is that there is a market for these and more and more people are learning to love a red dot on their revolvers. Yes irons look cleaner on the gun and might be easier to carry, but my older eyes sure appreciate that dot.
Now for the holsters. Barranti has made me one for my 5.5" RBH Bisley and it is perfect. I've cut 2 inexpensive but nice Threepersons style holsters I got off of Fleabay and they look good with clear edge dressing on the cuts. The red dots don't cause issues with the draw and aren't really noticed when carrying the revolvers.
How many older shooters have quit shooting handguns over the years due to some diabolical SOB changing out the crystal clear iron sights with a set of fuzzy sights when they weren't paying attention? It is a conspiracy.
All kidding aside, one of my complaints with the Raptor was it only attached with the one screw and would move side to side. I shimmed the extra space with aluminum cans cut into tiny strips. That took care of the lateral play. My shooting partner knew a better way and added aluminum to the front of the boss and we filed it to fit the rear sight recess. With the added material we then drilled the hole where the rear sight pin goes and now we had 2 attachment points. I mentioned it Raptor and didn't get a reply. If that convex from the rear sight were added to the boss on a mount, the buyer could drill or not drill as he chooses. A gob of bedding could work, but I don't intend to put epoxy where it may be a pain to remove. Maybe sculpt the mount some for looks. A workable mount that also looks good would be appreciated.

I've mounted six of the Raptor one-screw mounts on revolvers in 357 Max, 454, 45 Colt and 44 Magnum. The only one that ever gave me any trouble was on a 44 mag Bisley. For some reason, this mount sheared the screw 3 times. I finally had the top strap drilled and tapped for a second screw and now that sucker is staying put. I agree with others who have said some type of second attachment method is needed to make these mounts 100% secure.

...one of my complaints with the Raptor was it only attached with the one screw and would move side to side. I shimmed... These revolvers - there are some features that are precisely located, where those features are repeatable from gun to gun. The shape/width/contour of the "bodywork" including the top strap isn't very precise. I made a mount for my 5.7x28 to take a Burris FastFire 3 The countours weren't the same from one side of the gun to the other. This is common.

RECENT POSTS ABOUT ATTACHMENT POINTS BEAT ME TO THE THE TOPIC. HOW DOES THE ALLCHIN ATTACH? RS SCREW HOLE ONLY OR WHAT? THE RAPTOR BASE ON MY SINGLE 7 STICKS OUT ABOVE THE FRAME, THE ALLCHIN MOUNT SEEMS TO FIT FLUSH IN THE REAR SIGHT CHANNEL AND ON TOP OF THE FRAME, WHICH MAY MAKE IT EASIER TO D&T AN EXTRA ATTACHMENT POINT???
