If you put the transfer bar parts in an OM gun can you use a NM hammer in it?
Wanting a bisley spur on an OM gun....
I don't feel like digging the parts out and trying...

Don’t think so Chief. Look at image of retrofit hammer versus NM and pretty sure major differences in cut outs etc.

No. The retrofit required cocktailing lockwork, including hammer, to work within confines of old model frame cuts. Listening to the Ruger’s describe the process, it was something of a monkey drill to insure operation of the PASSIVE SAFETY. If someone has adapted a New Model hammer to the retrofit, I haven’t heard of it. According to Bill Ruger, Jr., his drop-in of retrofit parts into my old model SBH with brass grip frame inaugurated then retrofit program. Bill did the retrofit at his brick building on the Sugar River just downstream of Ruger’s New Hampshire factory. I love the feel of the old model, but much prefer to carry the New Model. As for the retrofit, I respect its necessity but don’t care for the feel. After brief shooting of the retrofit Brass Super, I re-installed the original lockwork. “What’d you do that for?” asked Bill. “This way I can’t lose the original parts. Not to mention SMOOTH. Besides, that was my gun at the first IHMSA Internationals.” David Bradshaw
